Good morning !

How’s your morning? Are you enjoying like myself the first days of summer with the birds singing outside and the sun shining high? Mmmmh it feels so great when the weather is good…

So today, as promised, I’ll show you some crochet goodies I brought with me from Istanbul and two new projects I started when I got home …

First, there is some colorful crochet hooks I could not resist buying as I can not find any here in Beirut… I paid 1T.L (Turkish Lira) for each hook…that makes 0.38 british pound (or 0.6 USD) :)

some cute little buttons…

and of course yarn :) the best yarn I ever touched in my whole life… soooooo soft and with bright colors :)

It is called Nako baby …It is a mixture of 50%acrylic and 50%polyamid…I think this polyamid thing is what makes it soooo soft …and a pure pleasure to work with …

As for the price it is really cheap as I bought one (100gr) for 2.5 T.L (Turkish lira) that makes 0.95 British pound (or 1.5 USD) for one ball of 100g! Can you believe it ???

So, as you already guessed, I started something with this new yarn…a blanket :)

a stripy colorful baby blanket…one color for each row…all with treble…

but as you can see in the pic above, I am working the trebles in the back of every stitch…(inserting the hook not in all the stitch but in the back side of the stitch only) that makes it looks like this and I love how the lines are appearing…did you notice ?

and this is my second wip…

a granny square??? pffffffffffff

No, no, no, not any granny square :)

These are the first 6 rounds of a giant granny square…a real G I A N T one….with like 100 rounds !!!

So, who wants to join me in this great adventure and make your proper giant granny??? It will be a great challenge to make a really big one with all the leftover yarns you have …and it will become a beautiful loved blanket I am sure!!

Ooooh I am so thrilled with this project :) Join me join me join me !!! pleaaaaaaaaaaase!! :D

Have to go now my friend!

Thank you so much for visiting today!

Have a wonderful week wherever you are!

This project holds a special place in my heart and I’m still so in love that when I’m crocheting it I feel like my heart beats with joy… I want to make it HUGE…Yes a very very big blanket  … Hope I can stay so in Love to realize this wish ;)

So, my lovelies, some pics to show what I did so far…

Hello there!

What a title to a post eh? :) hehe

As you already guessed the blanket is over :) and it is delicious :) wanna take a look?

Not my kind of colors but it turned out good … and I am happy :)

It measures 75x90cm which is a good size for a baby blanket…

I made the border using this pattern but I made half trebles instead of trebles …

The yarn I used is “Nako baby” 60% bamboo 40% polyamid… too bad you can only find pastels colors…because the yarn is so soft it is a pure pleasure to work with…

The crochet hook is a 4mm one. You can find here the graphic pattern for this blanket… Sorry again if I can only make graphic patterns … I am really really bad at explaining with words and I can not, myself, follow written patterns :(

and now I can not wait to get back to my bright, bold and happy colors again ;) Youpiiii!

but will miss for sure the softness of this yarn …

Thank you for visiting ;)

Have a nice day!

Good morning !

I received a while ago an award from a very sweet lady…

Thank you so much Kerry!

Kerry have a wonderful blog…you can visit it here!

So, for the award I have to tell some things about myself…

Yalla…

1-I really really love colors…colors everywhere and specially in homes but it seems like most of the homes I visit are “beige” or “white” and this really annoys me!!

2- My favorite color is: red or purple or orange or yellow or even turquoise …in fact I have plenty of favorite colors ;) and every week I seem to have a new favorite color :)

3- I love big families…for me the perfect picture of happiness is a big family with 4 or 5 kids dining around a big table laughing and eating with a fire in a cosy fireplace …

4- I’m afraid to death of death :) In fact this is a real obsession for me…I keep thinking about the day I’ll be dead or somebody I cherish will be gone and I cry and I cry … I don’t know how to face this fact and I keep reading books about it…but no result :(

5- I love simple pleasures of life: sometimes, just sitting in the garden watching the girls playing makes my heart happy happy happy :)

6- I hate to shop clothes…for myself…yes yes yes…I wish I can stay in my jeans and a very large t-shirt for the rest of my life and nobody tells me I have to be “pretty” for the others GRRRRRRR!

7- I live in a country (Lebanon) where everything is fake…specially the women…plastic surgery is the latest fashion…All the women have the same fake nose, the same fake cheeks and the same stretched skin around the eyes…in fact they all looks the same…its dramatic !

8- I hate going to hairdressers…fixing the color and cutting my hair is my nightmare! and this is what I’m making today!!!

9- I love eating a lot, specially sweets and chocolate…and I am constantly beginning diets…just beginning … :D

10- Sometimes I wish to live alone in an island with my children, my husband and my family and of course my crochet and the internet  and you ;)

that’s it my lovelies!

Now I have to pass this on (and this is the hardest part as there is a thousand of lovely blogs I visit and all the blogs are wonderful! really!)

So, voila, I pass this award to:

1- Saritha from http://hooksneedlesandme.blogspot.com/

2- Debi from http://hooksandyarns.blogspot.com/

3- Severine from http://severine56.canalblog.com/

4- Jane from http://hook-and-yarn.blogspot.com/

5- Karen from http://4lilgirls.blogspot.com/

6- Mamzelle Flo from http://fantaisiesdeflo.canalblog.com/

7- Karen from http://www.barefeetandafreespirit.blogspot.com/

8- Linda from http://www.theknitoriousmrsb.blogspot.com/

and Esther from http://happyinred.blogspot.com/

Go have a visit! It is really worth it!

and finally before I go, I have to show you two pics:

It still needs some ironing and framing…but I’m happy with it :)

and…

My “daisies-in-a-square-baby-blanket” wip…

All the squares are done…Still have the joining round and the border…So a “tadaaa” post is coming very soon ;)

Enjoy your week end!

Hello there!

This is as promised the new yarn my mom brought for me last Saturday… (thank you mom!)

Weird eh? not my kind of colors :) too soft…too pastels…too light :) but but but you can not imagine my surprise when I touched them…Ohlala  it is the softest and smoothest yarn I ever touched in my hole life …. mmmh so tender like a baby’s skin …

It is called Nako Baby… 60% bamboo 40% polyamid (wondering what it is :) )

8 colors including the white one…

mmmh…so? did I tried to crochet with it? or didn’t I? :)

This kind of yarn is perfect for baby stuff… and I have plenty of pregnant mothers around me including my own sister…so I decided to start a baby blanket….for a cute little baby :)

Ok the colors are too pastels but you can not imagine how beautiful it is to work with …OOOOH totally hooked :) and I did not let it down until 1:00 a.m that night :) trying different patterns until I chose this one …

and I made a lot of progress this week …

I called the square : “daisies baby blanket square” and of course I am gonna post the graphic pattern for you next time ;)

This pattern will turn out wonderful with bright and bold colors too, I am sure…

I am joining the squares with the white color as I go…

I can tell you one thing: I will not work on any other wip before I totally finish this blanket…Because, I just can not come back to my normal acrylic stash after I worked with this wonderful yarn of softness! (I sometimes have strange English sentences :) hehe )

Time to go now! See you next time with the graphic pattern ;)

I hope you liked my new yarn, my new wip and my new square !

Have a wonderful sunshiny week end!

Granny love

Hello!

These past few days I’ve been making the final touches of “granny love”

Doesn’t feel great when you are cutting the yarn ends and thinking about the joy this blanket will give to someone ?

I will offer this blanket to a friend of mine who’s giving birth in July… This friend is in love with grannies and (like myself ) she don’t love soft pastels colors for babies :) She’s giving birth to a baby boy but she wants her blanket to be full of bold colors (purple included) :) so here it is: Granny love!

I made this blanket a little bigger (85x105cm) than the normal-baby-blanket-size as it will be used during the cold days not before December and the baby will be 6 months old…

I used my favorite acrylic yarns the Nako brand and a 4.5mm crochet hook …

and made a simple picots edging with the off-white color…

I think the picots-edge is a quick and very nice type of edging…and the result turns out always beautiful :)

Ooooh how I love grannies ! I think that the multi-colored-granny-square is the first thing people should learn in crochet…as they will be hooked forever ;)

Here is a final pic before leaving you my friend…Hope you liked “granny love”!

Have a wonderful week end and thank you for visiting!

P.S: I am making progress on my “vintage blanket” and I am enjoying it sooo much…will show you something for sure next time ;)

Good morning ladies,

Hope you are enjoying your morning with a hot cup of coffee like myself :)

Yesterday I bought some new yarn to add to my old stash

7 new colors and a lot of leftovers…

This 100% acrylic yarn is much thinner than the old one…It has to be crocheted with a 3mm hook… and I love how a normal 4 rounds granny square looks much smaller in this kind of yarn!

I have now two projects I am working on: The first one is a granny blanket for a friend who’s giving birth in July …

The second one is “love at first sight” and I am thinking about offering it as a wedding gift for another friend who’s getting married in July also :) :)

But but but …

I could not resist trying out the new yarn ;)

Who could resist ???

and I made some squares using the same pattern as my fairy tale blanket! (I just love this pattern!!!)…but this time the colors looks a little “vintage” and I joined with the “off-white-beige” color…so it is looking like a vintage blanket and this is how I decided to name it :D

The squares are very soft and a lot smaller and I love them …The colors are not so bright (as for my other projects) and I am thrilled to try out working with them too …

So “Vintage blanket ” is going to be my third wip …

but I should really really finish the granny one (one more row of squares ans a border) and show it to you …It is looking very nice you’ll see ;)

Time to go now…

Thank you for visiting!

Big big kisses!
